Historical logging and clearing. Current grouse openings maintained in surrounding forest of Prunus serotina and Picea rubens. Some contemporary logging of surrounding forest, but does not appear to be logged adjacent to wetland.;Historically cleared, with beaver ponds active within the last 10 years. Some invasive velvet grass and sweet vernal grass from DNR grouse openings on ridges to the south and north. No trails or roads lead to this otherwise undisturbed meadow. Lower swales of Carex atlantica present throughout. Meandering stream runs within 5 m plot.
Representativeness
This is a large stand of old beaver meadow. Typical of meadows in headwater drainages near Spruce Knob Lake.
